Visa Overview

The UK Skilled Worker Visa (formerly Tier 2 General) allows eligible workers to live and work in the UK under the points-based immigration system. You must have a confirmed job offer from a UK Home Office-approved sponsor and score at least 70 points across mandatory and tradeable criteria.

Eligibility Requirements

Job Offer from Licensed Sponsor

Confirmed job offer from a UK employer with a valid sponsor licence from the Home Office.

Eligible Occupation (RQF 3+)

Your role must appear on the eligible skilled occupations list at RQF Level 3 or above.

Salary Threshold

Minimum £26,200/year or the going rate for your occupation — whichever is higher.

English Language (B1+)

Must demonstrate English proficiency at CEFR Level B1 or above.

Certificate of Sponsorship

Your sponsor must issue a valid CoS before you submit your application.

Good Character

No criminal record or security concerns as defined by Home Office guidance.

Must cover your intended period of stay in the UK.

Reference number provided by your UK employer/sponsor.

English Language Proof

IELTS, TOEFL, PTE or degree from an English-speaking country.

Bank Statements (£1,270 maintenance)

Showing funds held for at least 28 consecutive days.

TB Test Certificate

Required if applying from certain countries.

Criminal Record Certificate

Required from countries of residence where applicable.
